Happy Easter! This is one of my favorite times of year! The spring symbolizes new life, growth, and the coming of summer. Easter brings so many traditions, like dying eggs, egg hunts, making bunny cakes (like the one in the cover pictre), and Easter baskets.

After the heaviness of my Good Friday post, I want to focus this one around one of my favorite Easter traditions: making resurrection rolls with my mom. These rolls are a great symbol of Jesus and the empty tomb.

But, if you're not familiar with this treat, you will probably need a little elaboration. It starts when we roll marshmallows in melted butter and cinnamon sugar. We put this in a piece of crescent roll dough, close it up, and put it into a muffin tin in the oven. When they come out, the marshmallow is melted and the crescent roll is an empty ball.

I think you can kinda see where I'm going with this, but the marshmallow represented Jesus and the crescent roll ball was the tomb. The butter and the cinnamon sugar show how Jesus' body was prepared for burial, with the spices and oils that he was surrounded by.

When the marshmallow had melted, that symbolized how Jesus rose again and the tomb was empty on the third morning. I have always loved this treat because of how much it visually showed this story that I was so used to reading in the Bible. It showed the miraculousness of the event when the marshmallow disappeared.

And, let's be honest . . . . I also love it because they are delicious!

Reading the passage that talks about the resurrection, one verse in particular sticks out to me: Luke 24:5. This verse asks the distinct question "Why do you seek the living among the dead?" The angel sitting on top of the stone asked this to the women, Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Jesus, who were coming to visit Jesus' tomb.

This question was meant to tell the women that Jesus was no longer dead so He would not be where the dead people are. But, what if the angel was asking this to us, too?

Many of us think we are finding life in things that we do, even if they are things of this world. But we should know that only in Christ can we find true life, joy, and satisfaction.

So if we look for things that give life among the dead of this world, then the question still stands for us. Why are we looking for the living among the dead?

I encourage you to think about this while you enjoy Easter lunch or dinner with family or friends. Remember that Jesus is alive and is sitting at the right hand of God in Heaven watching each of us, listening to whenever we talk to Him in prayer, and speaking to us through the Bible and the things around us.

Happy Easter, y'all!!
